Not in the Mall

Out the window clouds have blown up whisking loose pine cones from the pinon. I can see the mountains, and hear the horses whinnying for hay.

I don't want to spoil the serenity by driving to town and fighting with psychotic shoppers for the best sale items. In fact, after looking at the ads, there's nothing I even want for me, much less buy for someone else. I prefer to do my gift giving unexpectedly throughout the year. I know I am in the minority.

The image above is the palm tree I've been talking about, the one I finished here a few days ago. It's almost seven feet tall. I know it's a crummy picture, but the canvas is laying on the floor in the sunroom, and I am holding the camera over my head to get this shot. At least you can see how the little fish stamps worked out.

Clever use of repeated shapes. Bet it was fun as well. I'm with you on the 'no reason' gift giving. So why does guilt smother me this time of year? KJ

Say no to guilt! That's just corporate America's marketing department.

Hey Robin,
Holiday hype and shopping frenzy might be "the American way" but it isn't the real way to live. It's so artificial and so removed from what makes life worthwhile. You stay put on "black friday," girl! You aren't the only one. . .
