Last Minuteness

It's not a secret that I don't want to go home tomorrow. I am feeling an aversion to my "real" life. Silly me. It's my real life that makes the time away seem so special!

I met a friend for lunch yesterday -- an artist I met at the residency in Hungary last year. We had a big time traipsing up Canyon Road and poking our head into galleries. I've done that a lot this trip, with different people. It's good to see what's here, and what's selling. I'll take this info to Miami next week when I attend Art Basel.

In preparation for Miami I will print up some one page flyers with what I consider to be the best of my work. Maybe I can interest a gallery owner. I've got too many eggs in one basket right now, and need to diversify.

Also visited my friend Raya, who was one of the artists attending the residency in France this past April. She has just moved into a new space, and it's fabulous! Great light and mountain views. Perfect work/live space.

I woke up early this morning. It's my day for chores in preparation for the return of the homeowners. These are lovely people, and I can't wait to see them. We are in the middle of a snowstorm, the first real snow of the season. Bad day for traveling. My tentative plan is to head home tomorrow. I wanted to stay longer, but I have three commissions to complete before I fly to Miami!

Not only is your art varied and layered, but you seem to truly appreciate the repeating connections with people which give such texture to your life. The Bulgarian residency, the French residency, the Paint-L excursions were not really over for you. Cool!

Have a safe return home. Annette

Annette - it is the richness of experience with people and places that informs my artwork, but most importantly, creates the lush backdrop for whatever the current moment brings.
