Too Close for Comfort

This painting is too damn big. I can't step back far enough to see the whole thing, and that's getting in the way of completing the design. In a painting like this all the elements have to work together - dark and light, shapes, lines, colors, everything has to relate. Otherwise, the painting as a whole won't work. sigh

I know what you mean. I've never tackled anything that huge, but distance is always a good thing for getting it right. I am sometimes amazed and/or appalled when I hang a painting on a wall or at a show and see if from a new direction! "Stuff' just jumps out! this seems to be coming along well. I love the simplicity of the dayliy addition.
