I Don't Work for Free

Anybody who knows me knows that this my personal philosophy. I don't believe in giving my work away for free. There's a reason I call it work - I get paid for it.

There is a new grass-roots movement in the graphic design industry based on this very idea. "It ... serves as a vehicle to unite those who support the notion that spec work devalues the potential of design and ultimately does a disservice to the client." I am behind this 100%. See the website at No!Spec.

I have a long personal history of self-employment in the arts. I have never made any money by giving something away. If I don't value my product, why should anyone else?

Thanks to my tech-savvy friends, I have added links to my artist friends who are attending the France residency with me. Thanks ya'll!
