I Just Said No

Once I was reminded that I'm in charge of me I have have felt so much better! (I doubt it will be the last time I will have to be reminded though). I called my client about the landscapes early in the day and mentioned that I may not finish them. And after I did that they totally painted themselves and I was quite happy with them. I know, they don't look so difficult. But there are at least 12 layers of paint and glazes (including metallics) to get that effect. Well, they're done and delivered.

The second major thing was meeting with the client for whom I am painting the 36 x 36 grid paintings. She was very friendly, but scattered, and after and hour and a half we still didn't have all the components together that she wanted to include in the paintings. And when she said, "you know we wanted those paintings tomorrow, since we're having some executives coming in." When I looked at her crazy she said, "the sad part about that is that is true." And I said, "well, you know that's not going to happen, right?" and told her to borrow some art to hang for the day. Really, like I was going to stay up all night so she could have paintings on her wall for one day! And this is a project that began last October. I felt really good about just saying NO.

My schedule is clear again. I've got the big grid on the wall, almost complete. I have a meeting downtown this morning, then I think I will start packing for Washington DC. I hear it will be reallly cold with maybe snow on Sunday. Oh well. I need a change of scenery.
