Celebration of Life

Most of us have unresolved issues with our parents and we carry those burdens to the end of our lives, long after our parents have passed on. Not so for my best friend Lee Ann. In a display of noble generosity she airlifted her ailing parents to her house from another state, and made arrangements to care for them. They both "graduated" this week, within hours of each other, from totally different health problems. In the month the three of them spent together, Lee Ann was able to talk to her mom and dad about everything that mattered. And in their hour of death, she was there to pray them forward. The grace that she has shown under these circumstances will stay with me forever. Like I told her, she is my hero. I leave for Phoenix tomorrow, to be with her for a few days.

In other news, I have new friends. My neighbor introduced me to a couple who are looking for some original artwork for their home. They came over last night and we talked about what they liked, colors, size, etc. Then we got down to talking prices, and came to an agreement. We are bartering! Seems he has some skills in remodeling, and my house desperately needs some. Like I told them, I'll paint anything you want!

It is very nice that you shared that with us. I so wish I had had the resolve that your friend did.

Found this on the French Word-A-Day site. It reminded me of your bartering. Thought you might need to know it whie in France!

rendre à quelqu'un la monnaie de sa pièce = to repay someone in kind.

Beautiful story, Robin! And a beautiful person, no doubt.
