Getting the Better of Me

I'm in a war with technology, and I'm losing!

My office is still located at home, while my entire painting studio has moved. I'm printing three jobs, and can't varnish the canvas prints at home, but have to take them up to the new studio. My computer is outdated, yet I can't get along without it. The thought of disentangling all those wires and hauling the CPU, two monitors, seven external hard drives, two UPS systems, two 44" printers, a 24" printer, scanner and who knows what else is more than I can bear! What if I can't put it all back together?

On the other hand, my new workstation is assembled and awesome! Like one friend said, it looks like an airlines reservation desk.

I've moved things around in the space, and now have the GIANT 16' x 8' double sided A-frame painting wall right smack in the middle so it's visible from the showroom and hides what's behind it. I really need to get a canvas up there and start throwing paint around that sterile surface.

Bottom line, although I'm moved, I still have one foot in the rut that was my home studio.

Don't you HATE all those damn wires tangling up on you. I'm wanting to go all wireless and as few cables as possible when I can.

You can do it, Robin. Can't wait to see the space.

The "stuff" can sure get in the way of the excitement over your new studio digs. Hopefully, you'll obtain lots of help in moving and installing these.

Congrads on your new studio! I'm an artist who has donated numerous pieces to the healthcare system, but I would like to pursue payment for commissioned work there as well. My heart wants to give, give, give, but reality dictates otherwise.

I smiled at the post about your art taking over your house. My husband often speaks about that and knew when our daughter went off to college recently that I'd overtake yet another room...

I'm bookmarking your blog. I agree with your response on henry d's blog that healthcare environments will use abstract art!

Hope the rest of your move-in flows smoothly.
